I need help running the live environment from a usb created with balena etcher.
I boot into the nvidia version of the live environment but the boot is always stuck at:
[ ok ] Reached graphical interface
I reckoned it has something to do with the graphics (duh) and tried starting plasma manually with X11 and with Wayland.
liveuser@CachyOS ~]$ startplasma-x11
$DISPLAY is not set or cannot connect to the X server
liveuser@CachyOS ~]$ startplasma-wayland

Running from a Intenso Alu Line 64gb USB-Stick via USB3.0
I really want to try CachyOS and hope you can help me. If you need more information just tell me and i try to provide some.
Do not use Etcher use Ventoy instead. For Arch based OS’s like CachyOS just install Ventoy from the terminal. For Windows download the executable from the link in the article.
Thanks for the reply.
the reason i used etcher is because i already tried using ventoy. This did not work. Thats why i looked up the CachyOS install guide where Etcher is the first recommendation on how to create a bootable stick. When using Ventoy i had the same issues as explained before.
I can try Ventoy again but i don’t expect a different result.
If you still have an issue it’s most likely the ISO and not Ventoy itself. Garuda had to include a fix for their dev builds and official release and we can now once again use Ventoy.
The thing is: if its a problem with the iso i cant be the only one with this problem.
Is there a way to get an older version of the iso? Maybe i can try if an older version works.
But i worked around the problem:
I found an older iso and tried that with sucess. The live environment booted up fine and i was able to just install CachyOS normally!
