That isn’t installed on mine ![]()
Edit: You are correct @cscs, I didn’t realize I had vlc installed as I never use it lol. However, it doesn’t “bother” me, I’ve had occasions where mpv (or vlc..don’t remember) doesn’t like a file for any particular reason…so I try the other one.
If no phonon then I guess you must have manually ripped it out as its a requirement of dolphin, plasma-workspace, etc.
Likely vlc as its really not the godsend on linux it is/was on windoze.
It can be quite particular about aligning hardware with specific output settings and so forth as well .. mpv has sane defaults but also HW-Accels easily enough.
Also mpv is tiny in comparison and functions much better as a ‘media backend’.
With fair frontends for folks that like them -haruna and smplayer, etc.
(Haruna to be preferred I think, at least on Plasma, at least for now.)
Are you sure? They should be configs. Like cachyos-vim-config.
It may be due to the language difference. I was pretty sure.
You really aren’t very intelligent are you. Not everyone want everything so having a choice if one installs something or not is EXTREMELY nice. It’s actually one of the biggest reasons peeps leave WinBLOWS cause it installs everything and peeps have to go through and remove what they will never use and or replace the poor software with 3rd party apps that work better. I for one do not mind taking a couple of extra minutes before I actually start the install because I’m choosing what to include, nor the couple of minutes longer it takes to install because of those selection when I consider the amount of time it saves in installing those apps after I’m on the desktop. Sheep is not what I would call any of us. We know full well what we do and don’t like. RebornOS is the same way and it like Cachy is one of the best Arch distros out there.
Yes I noticed it when I booted ISO again. I must have missed it.
It seems mpv and fish are only packages you can’t select at the installation. But you can delete or change them after installation.
Maybe I’m a bit obsessed with bloat. The OS is working fine without making any changes. They don’t take up much space.
I wouldn’t say gamer focused lol
It’s just made easier and that’s good because there is no Arch that’s easy and not a huge mess with expired SSLs and devs telling users to rollback Cough
99% sure i’ve deselected fish in the installer before. Maybe im mistaken.
I haven’t tried it, but I believe I’ve read you can perform the arch method of installation from Cachy ISO, and completely tailor if desired.
