I have been using cachyos with satisfaction for three weeks. Yesterday it suddendly hanged at reboot (the only operation I had made was a ntfsfix -bd on a windows ntfs disk before that startup).
I have two screens, one Eizo photo screen and an old office screen.
I tried reinstalling cachyos, the installer works fine with Kde fully working.
Once installed the normal startup stops after a few lines.
When shutting down through the start button for a brief moment the cachyos initial screen reappears.
There was recently an update to our cachyos-kde-settings package which defaults SDDM to wayland instead of X11. Try to “Apply Plasma Settings” under SDDM settings.
If above solution does not work, you can remove the -settings package to restore the X11 backend in SDDM sudo pacman -R cachyos-kde-settings.
Also, please provide the output of printenv | grep DISPLAY, ideally with and without the settings package
Thank you. I will reinstall it with a different desktop manager, I guess this should suffice to have it working before applying your solution to Plasma.
I confirm that the problem was that update. I installed a fresh version with Lxqt and I added Plasma afterwards. I confirm that the stock kernel of cachyos is ideal for photo work. I can browse through my very heavy tiff files collections with a decent speed now, while with other distros it was a painful and slow work, with frequent freezes (gwenview and xnview are my viewers). Gimp is superfast and the g’mic filters are applied faster than ever.
