I know that feeling. Most of the times, it comes from you doing things that you not fully understand or - worse - downloading “tools” that screw your system. It is a pretty frustrating experience. My current CachyOS installation is nearing its first birthday and things are still pretty smooth around there and I believe that is because
- I am very reluctant to change things in the system
- I do not install everything I find left and right on the internet
- I keep a diary of the changes I do to my system, so I can look them up later on.
