My system unfortunately had more catastrophic results, from this update due to my use of Fake-Raid (i have m.2 satas) getting broken. On a new btrfs-based install, lsmod | grep nvidia at least shows nvidia-580xx-dkmsbuilt properly? Unsure, I used the tui, so me choosing linux-cachyos-eevdf may be a part of that.
Thank you for the write up, managed to restore from emergency mode with this. Where should i leave feedback that nvidia 580xx doesnât build on kernel 7.0.5? Is this feedback for the cachyos 7.0.5 kernel or for nvidia?
I have a GTX1060 and have the same issues.
Since the new nvidia drivers donât support Pascal-GPUs, I also am on the 580xx-dkms driver (Iâm using the linux-cachyos-bore-lto 7.0.5-1 and as a fallback the linux-cachyos-lts 6.18.28-1 .. both of those donât work with the currently installed nvidia drivers).
Please consider this:
Thereâs a new linux zero-day, similar to the vulnerability from a few days ago (which the latest kernel-versions likely tried to patch).
So, a downgrade isnât a good option, because it will leave your system vulnerable.
In my case, I canât even downgrade, because I always clear the package cache, so I hope, theyâll fix the issue, soon.
I can confirm that downgrading to LLVM 22.1.3 (from 22.1.5) fixed the nvidia drivers linking problem (tested on 595 and 580).
Using the following method, I was able to stay on kernel 7.0.5.
I used downgrade script since I cleared my cache:
Install downgrade:
$ sudo pacman -S downgrade
downgrade to 22.1.3:
$ sudo downgrade llvm compiler-rt llvm-libs lib32-llvm-libs lld
rebuild nvidia kernel module:
$ sudo rm -rf /var/lib/dkms/nvidia
$ sudo pacman -S nvidia-open-dkms
Thank you, everyone. In my case, downgrading LLVM as suggested was enough for all dkms builds to complete successfully.
$ sudo pacman -U \

For now I also stopped updating the LLVM packages until I can try again; in `/etc/pacman.conf`
IgnorePkg = llvm lld compiler-rt llvm-libs
I look into this issue. I think its something with the llvm toolchain. Ive tried to reproduce locally but im not able to.
Can someone please try to do:
sudo pacman -Syu extra/clang and check if its working then?
Did not work unfortunately. GTX 1080Ti.
sudo pacman -Syu extra/clang

This worked for me! Thanks.
(I use the LTS-kernel, 595 with RTX 3080)
Hey all,
I found the issue which has been reported already 5 days ago: Linux Kernel kernel fails to build with 22.1.4 · Issue #195657 · llvm/llvm-project · GitHub
Ive bisected the issue and found out following commit causes it:https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/commit/dc9d64aad7a92582f2847f408c273f604e7376e5.patch
I have pushed a new lld version into arch repository and you should get it too:
Please update your system and let me know if its fixed. You can trigger the dkms compilation again with reinstalling the kernel or running sudo dkms autoinstall
Updated but sadly still donât work for me.
Did you got new lld version? It might take some time till you have it on your mirror.
Yes itâs the latest which came in some minutes ago.
![]()
Edit: Shame on me. As I see it should be 22.1.5-2. So lets wait and see. ![]()
Indeed. Fixed only compilation issue. Looking further.
I push now a GCC kernel into the repository and then well see..
Okay, the issue is more crazy then thought. It appearently happens ONLY when LLVM Toolchain is compiled with GCC16, not with GCC15 or when its compiled with clang.
Best of luck to you Peter. I do hope you have a beer in your hand and sunshine a few meters away from your monitor. Doing some great work. Iâll wait to to another fresh install and see how it goes in here..
The issue will be also fixed with 7.0.5-2
